Your tax obligations depend on where you operate, where buyers are located, what you sell, and your business structure. In general:
- Include taxable sales income in your tax returns and pay any income tax due.
- Register and file returns where applicable. Collect and remit transaction tax you owe; Kurodyne is responsible for tax assigned to it under marketplace rules.
- Keep complete records of sales, fees, refunds, and payouts from your first sale.
- Use Stripe's transaction and fee reports as records, not as a completed tax return.
Checkout doesn't add any transaction tax you owe, so the price you set includes it.
Registration thresholds and rules vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for determining where your business must register and file returns. Kurodyne's responsibility for tax under marketplace rules doesn't replace registration or filing duties that still apply to your business.
Kurodyne is responsible for VAT and other transaction tax that marketplace rules assign to it. You remain responsible for other VAT and transaction tax you owe, income tax, your own registrations and returns, and required tax documents.
Checkout doesn't add tax you owe. Kurodyne provides a simple purchase receipt, and Stripe provides payment records and emails its receipt to the buyer. These records don't replace any tax documents you must issue. Enabling Stripe's separate tax products in your account doesn't add tax to Kurodyne checkout.
Withholding rules depend on the account holder, the service, and the jurisdictions involved. Review Stripe's records and the rules that apply to your business before remitting tax or issuing a certificate.
